Liverpool head into the new Premier League weekend in third place in the league table having dropped just two points from their four games this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side drew their opening match of the season away at Chelsea and have since defeated Bournemouth, Newcastle and Aston Villa to lift themselves into the top three and just two points behind the league leaders Manchester City.

A win on Saturday lunchtime would take the Reds top of the Premier League for at least a couple of hours, already showing a marked improvement from their disappointing campaign last season in which they could only muster a fifth-placed finish.

Wolves headed into the new season with many people predicting them to suffer relegation due to so many of their important players leaving in the transfer window and losing their established manager Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the new season.

Gary O’Neil was announced as Wolves’ new boss and his side greatly impressed in their opening match of the season at Old Trafford despite falling to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Since then, defeats against Brighton and Crystal Palace have sandwiched a 1-0 victory away at Everton, leaving them in 15th place in the table having collected three points from their opening four matches, of which three have been away from home.

Wolves won this fixture 3-0 last season, ending a run of 11 winless league games against Liverpool for the West Midlands side.

Jurgen Klopp has won 10 of his 14 matches he’s managed against Wolves, including eight of his last nine in the league.
