Why is Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield United not on TV? Premier League fixture not set for live broadcast due to rescheduling

Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United will renew their rivalry in the Premier League this Friday night but fans will not be able to watch.

Both sides are bidding to pick up their first points of the season, with Forest losing 2-1 to Arsenal while the Blades were beaten 1-0 by Crystal Palace.

The upcoming top-flight clash also marks the first meeting between the two teams since Forest edged out United on penalties in the Championship play-off semi-final in 2022.

However, despite games in the Friday evening slot usually being broadcast live, this game will not be, and talkSPORT.com takes a look at why this is the case.

Why is Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield United not on TV?

This clash is not being shown live on TV due to the original fixture being rescheduled.

The clash was initially meant to be played at 3pm on Saturday, August 19 but it was forced to be moved a day earlier.

And this has happened because of the cricket…

The Trent Rockets take on Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred on Saturday with the men’s and women’s matches going ahead in Nottingham.

So due to fears of heavy congestion in the city, the football fixture was moved.

It will now take place on Friday and there wasn’t a live game scheduled for that slot this week, with two evening games on Saturday set for broadcast instead.

This means the game will not be shown on TV.

This fixture was also not originally selected for broadcast and rules state that if that fixture is rescheduled, it can still not be shown.
