West Ham step up their interest in Edson Alvarez with Ajax star open to London Stadium move

West Ham have expressed a strong interest in signing Ajax star Edson Alvarez, according to talkSPORT. The midfielder is reportedly open to the move, and David Moyes is eager to bring him to the London Stadium this summer. Alvarez is being considered as a potential signing to strengthen West Ham’s squad ahead of the upcoming season.

At 25 years old, Alvarez is a Mexican international with 68 caps to his name. He joined Ajax in 2019 from Club de Football America and has since made 147 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals. Primarily a defensive midfielder, Alvarez could be seen as an ideal replacement for Declan Rice, who recently completed a £105 million move to Arsenal.

Despite Rice’s departure, West Ham has yet to make any new signings. This has led Moyes to advertise for seven positions on a transfer website in an effort to bring in new faces. The club had previously been linked with James Ward Prowse, but a £30 million offer was rejected by Southampton, prompting West Ham to explore other targets.

In addition to the pursuit of Alvarez, West Ham has introduced a new talkSPORT match center. This platform provides up-to-date information on football fixtures, results, and standings. Fans can access Premier League fixtures, the league table, all fixtures and results, and all league tables through the match center.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham will successfully secure the signing of Edson Alvarez or if they will pursue other options to strengthen their squad before the start of the new season.
West Ham United have stepped up their interest in Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez by making him a transfer target, with reports suggesting the star is keen on joining the London based team.

The Hammers have been desperate for a top signing this window and Alvarez seems to have caught their eye, with the club looking to secure a new long-term midfield hooper. The Mexican international is also said to be open to the move, as a transfer to the London Stadium could offer a new challenge in his career and a new level for him to reach.

The 22-year-old has been on the radar of a number of Premier League teams, with Arsenal and Aston Villa previously expressing an interest in acquiring his services. The former Club America star has made more than 90 appearances for Ajax in all competitions, since joining the Dutch side in July 2019, and was part of their successful UEFA Champions League run last season.

Alvarez has featured in 28 league games this campaign, with the Amsterdam club currently second in the Eredivisie table. The talented midfielder has scored two league goals, and created one assist, contributing to Ajax’s success in the league this season.

If West Ham successfully complete the transfer for Alvarez he will become the third Mexican international team to play for the club, in the form of Javier Hernandez and Pablo Fornals. With the London Stadium side hopeful of strengthening in the midfield this window, the capture of the talented youngster could add much needed quality to their ranks.
