West Ham make fresh £30million bid for Harry Maguire and eye Manchester United teammate too

West Ham have submitted a new £30million bid to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.

Four years after his record £80million arrival from Leicester, Maguire’s future at the Red Devils has become even more uncertain.

After making just eight Premier League starts last season, the defender lost the club captaincy to Bruno Fernandes in July.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are the preferred centre-back pairing, and even left-back Luke Shaw has played in the role ahead of Maguire.

A summer departure could be on the cards, with West Ham keen on signing the England international.

They have sent United a new bid for the 30-year-old after seeing a £20million offer rejected at the end of last month.

It is not yet known if the latest move has been accepted or turned down by Erik ten Hag’s side.

Should a transfer be agreed, Maguire would leave Old Trafford after making 175 appearances across all competitions.

David Moyes’ side, who finished 14th in the Premier League but won the Europa Conference League last season, are yet to make a senior signing this summer.

They are the only top flight side to fail to do this but it could soon change before Maguire’s potential arrival.

talkSPORT understands they have agreed a £34million fee with Ajax for Edson Alvarez, who was linked with Chelsea last summer.

He would be the first new face at the club after they sold Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105million.

United’s Scott McTominay is a target for Moyes and co. too, with the Scotland international said to have an asking price of £40million.

Gunners striker Folarin Balogun is also on their radar this summer, but Maguire could be the next star to put pen to paper on a deal at the London Stadium.

West Ham have launched a new £30 million bid for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, according to reports.

The Hammers have been linked with Maguire for several weeks and have upped their interest in recent days, with the offer reported by the Daily Mirror.

Maguire, 27, has been an integral part of United’s team since his arrival from Leicester City in 2019, making 64 appearances for the side.

The English centre-back has two years left on his current contract with the Red Devils, and United will be hoping to hold onto their main defender.

West Ham are said to be looking to add defensive reinforcements to their squad and have been linked with a number of players.

Maguire may be joined at the London Stadium by one of his United teammates, with The Telegraph recently reporting that West Ham are interested in signing defender Axel Tuanzebe.

The 22-year-old centre-back has experienced limited playing time since his arrival from Aston Villa in 2016, but this season showed signs of promise with the Red Devils.

Both Maguire and Tuanzebe would be major signings for West Ham as the club looks to rival the Premier League’s top six sides.

It remains to be seen whether the Hammers can persuade Maguire and Tuanzebe to make the move to east London, and it may take something special to convince the pair to leave Old Trafford.
