Tottenham will play their final game of pre-season this week as they take on Barcelona in The Joan Gamper Trophy. This match is Barca’s annual showpiece ahead of the start of the new season which is named in honour of the club’s founding President.
With the Spanish giants unable to play their fixtures at the Nou Camp this campaign, the game will instead be played at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
Spurs have enjoyed a positive pre-season and returned to England after their tour of Asia with a 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk. Harry Kane scored four in the victory for Ange Postecoglou’s side as rumours still continue to swirl about his future at the club.

Tottenham vs Barcelona: Team news
Kane and James Maddison combined well in Tottenham’s win over Shakhtar last time out and the pair may start again. New signings Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie both played 90 minutes in that game and may be rested in Spain. Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Pedro Porro did not feature at all at the weekend and are likely to get some minutes this time around.
As for Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski is expected to lead the line with former Leeds winger Raphinha will play. New arrival Oriol Romeu could be a part of the Spanish giant’s midfield for the clash.
Tottenham vs Barcelona: What has been said?
Speaking after Spurs’ 5-1 win over Shakhtar at the weekend, manager Postecoglou assessed his side’s performance. He said: “It was okay. There were elements of it I wasn’t happy with, particularly in the last five minutes of the first half. Look, that’s not on the players. That’s still on me. We’re working on a way to play, and I felt in the last five minutes, we were trying to play to half-time, and that’s just not part of who we are.
“That’s up to me to get the belief into the players that we can’t take that approach. If we want to be this kind of team, we have to be this kind of team all the time, forget the scoreboard, forget how much time is left, just keep being relentless.
“It was a great response from the lads in the second half. They showed that when we’re at it like that, we’ll be a compelling team. But, that little five-minute spell showed me we’ve still a long way to go.”
