Tottenham v Manchester United preview

The Ange Postecoglou era at Tottenham got off to a mixed start last weekend as the North London side came from behind to earn a point away at Brentford in a London derby to start the season.

Two defenders were on the scoresheet for Spurs, with Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal finding the back of the net for the now Harry Kane-less side.

Spurs will be determined to earn their first win of the season in front of their home fans on Saturday evening, against a Man Utd side who many fancy to have a strong and progressive season this time around.

Erik ten Hag’s side kicked of the new campaign with a Monday night won over Wolves, but the Red Devils were largely unimpressive and outplayed in several areas on the night.

Raphael Varane’s second half header was enough to secure the three points for last season’s third place side but they’ll need to improve if they are to return home from the capital with all three points on the weekend.

Man Utd have won four of the last five meetings with Tottenham, and have lost only one of their last nine, winning six of them, though they have won on only two of their last nine away games against Spurs.

Tottenham v Manchester United betting tips

The departure of club record goal scorer Harry Kane from Tottenham leaves Richarlison as the most likely option to lead the forward line for Spurs this season.

Similarly, injuries to Manchester United’s new striker Rasmus Hojlund leaves Marcus Rashford to play the central role up front for the foreseeable future, and talkSPORT BET have boosted the odds for both strikers to find the net to 11/2.

Manchester United didn’t impress on Monday night despite their win and there were moments of quality from the Spurs attack that could cause the Red Devils some problems on Saturday.

Odds for a 2-0 Tottenham win have also been boosted 18/1, though if back the Carabao Cup champions for victory, a Man Utd win with both teams to score is now up to 29/10.
