Scottish boos drown out God Save the King ahead of friendly against England

The English national anthem was near inaudible ahead of the friendly clash with Scotland due to boos from the home crowd.

The ‘friendly’ between the two British rivals, which is live on talkSPORT, had a hostile edge to it before it even began.

However, anyone tuning in to hear God Save the King will have been left disappointed, with Scottish boos completely obliterating the song and England players singing it.

It was a different story when the home side’s national anthem was played with those inside Hampden Park producing a spine-tingling rendition of Flower of Scotland.

Despite the match being a friendly, it was a night with huge ramifications elsewhere for Scotland in their Euro 2024 qualifying group.

Should Norway and Georgia draw, Steve Clarke’s side will be straight into next summer’s tournament with five wins from five in Group A.

Back at Hampden, things didn’t get off to the best start, with Scotland 2-0 down at half-time thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham.
