The Saudi Pro League remains intent on signing the Egypt star, but they have just until Thursday, when their transfer window will closes, to get the deal done.

Should Salah remain on Merseyside, Klopp and the fans can certainly breathe a sigh of relief.

Al Ittihad have not ruled out going back in with an improved offer despite their initial bid of £100m, rising to £150m, being snubbed.

Many household names have made the move to Saudi Arabia this summer, including Karim Benzema, Neymar, Riyad Mahrez and Sadio Mane.

It remains to be seen whether Salah will follow suit, but should Al Ittihad offer £200m for the 31-year-old, it could prove to good to turn down given his age.

Speaking on Friday, Klopp said: “The position remains the same, absolutely. No doubt about that. We cannot [sell Salah]. That’s how it is. Nothing else to say.”

The Saudi giants, who are managed by former Wolves and Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo, are believed to be prepared to pay Salah £1.5m-a-week in wages.

Another player who continues to be linked with a move to the Gulf State is Tottenham forward Son.

It was reported in June that Al Ittihad launched a bid worth £51million for the Spurs forward.

Tottenham are prepared to resist any tempting offers that may arrive in the coming days, with Son still having two years left on his deal.

Ange Postecoglou has already lost talisman Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, so Spurs will certainly not want to lose another key forward.

The South Korean star, who scored a hat-trick at the weekend, is certainly not thinking about is future, but has since made it clear he is enjoying life in north London under new boss Postecoglou.

“(Postecoglou) wants to have the ball, he wants to dominate the game and he wants to play as high as possible and in their half of the pitch which our players are really interested in it and put a lot of effort into it,” Son said.

“Everyone is enjoying it and you could see on the pitch that everyone is playing with joy, with the happiness which is very helpful for the team.”
