Romelu Lukaku pictured at Chelsea training ground as striker pines for Stamford Bridge exit

Romelu Lukaku, the Belgian striker, has been seen at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham, despite his uncertain future at the club. He was spotted alongside one of the club’s under-12 players, wearing a Chelsea tracksuit after returning to training. Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, but a permanent move now seems unlikely.

Since his return to Stamford Bridge, Lukaku’s future has been uncertain. The 30-year-old striker rejoined Chelsea in 2021 for a record-breaking £97.5 million deal from Inter Milan. However, he only managed to score eight goals in his one season back in England. He then returned to Inter Milan last summer and had a more successful season, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists under Simone Inzaghi.

Lukaku now desires a permanent departure from Chelsea, although a specific destination has not yet been determined. Inter Milan was initially interested in signing him permanently, but they withdrew from the potential deal after learning about his secret talks with Juventus.

Mauricio Pochettino, during Chelsea’s US tour, confirmed that Lukaku’s days at the club are almost over. Pochettino stated that the decision was made by both the player and the club, and they are working hard to find the best solution.

Romelu Lukaku has been pictured at the Chelsea training ground for the first time in years, hinting at his desire to make a return to Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian international striker currently plays for Inter Milan, but has made a point of expressing his admiration for Chelsea in past interviews. With speculation currently mounting surrounding his future, supporters of the Premier League club may be hoping to finally see him return.

During his time with Everton, Lukaku was adamant that Chelsea was the right club for him. It was his dream move, but the Blues opted to sell him to Manchester United instead. He has since been a prolific scorer at both Inter Milan and Manchester United before that, with his overall quality never in question.

At current, it is unclear if Chelsea are seriously considering re-signing Lukaku, but he has certainly provided a timely reminder of his talent and ability as he was pictured at the training ground this week.

Of course, if Lukaku were to make a return to Stamford Bridge he would bring an extra element of quality and flair to the forward line at Chelsea. He’s an experienced and clinical striker, which makes him a hugely appealing option for head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Only time will tell whether the club decides to act on the speculation surrounding the striker’s future. With his return to the training ground this week, it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
