Rasmus Hojland is on the cusp of becoming the latest addition to the Manchester United squad, with the Danish star set to undergo his medical in preparation for a record-breaking £72 million transfer.

The highly-rated playmaker has been compared to United legend Paul Scholes and it’s likely he will go straight into the team once the deal is complete. Reports suggest, the 21-year-old Hojlund flew into it England yesterday to undergo a medical and complete his move, with a formal announcement expected to be made in the coming days.

Hojlund has been regarded as one of the finest talents in Europe for some time, and his capture is a real coup for United, who are in the midst of a major rebuilding project under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He will become the most expensive Danish player in history, and the second most expensive player Manchester United have ever signed, eclipsing the £67 million they spent to acquire then-world record signing Paul Pogba.

Hojlund has already made over 70 appearances for his current club, Malmo, scoring 17 goals and chipping in with 11 assists, as well as making his debut for the Danish national team at the age of just 19.

His bundle of talent and leadership credentials make him a perfect fit for United’s future plans, and with Solskjaer expecting his side to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table in the coming seasons, Hojlund may well become the key to United’s success.

United fans will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of Hojlund’s medical, as Solskjaer looks to have the Dane in and ready for the start of the 2020/21 season.
