Rangers rejected by axed Chelsea boss Graham Potter to replace under-fire manager Michael Beale

Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter has reportedly rejected an approach from Rangers to replace Michael Beale.

The Scottish side are rumoured to be on the lookout for a new manager following their slow start to the season.

Rangers have lost two out of their four Scottish Premiership matches so far – including in the Old Firm derby against Celtic before the international break.

Meanwhile, the Ibrox outfit have also been dumped out of the Champions League after being smashed 5-1 by PSV in the second leg of their play-off.

And according to The Sun, this has led the Glaswegian giants to explore their options.

It has been said that Potter‘s representatives were approached by Rangers.

However the former Brighton manager was not interested in the job offer.

Though the news outlet has claimed that the 48-year-old is keen on a return to management, it’s believed he will take the Eddie Howe approach.

That is holding out for the right opportunity – in Howe’s case Newcastle – instead of rushing back in.

The Sun insists that Potter, who was axed by Chelsea in April after less than seven months in charge, wants to manage a side in the Champions League.

Reports have stated that he was on French club Lyon’s radar after Manchester United legend Laurent Blanc was relieved of his duties.

Lyon currently sit bottom of the Ligue 1 table after picking up just one point from their opening four matches.

But it is understood that he decided against making the move to France.
