Private jet booking suggests Sofyan Amrabat is closing in on Manchester United switch

Manchester United are confident of closing a transfer deadline day deal for Moroccan World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat, talkSPORT understands.

Talks with Fiorentina are progressing positively and it is believed United have a private jet on standby to fly midfielder Amrabat from Florence to Manchester.

The flight has been scheduled for 12.52 on Friday and with a typical flight time of two hours and ten minutes, it leaves adequate time for United to close the deal.

Boss Erik ten Hag was hoping to secure the 27-year-old on a permanent transfer but Financial Fair Play restrictions are likely to force United to conclude a loan switch.

Amrabat caught the eye during Morocco’s unlikely surge towards the World Cup semi-final last December.

Since his heroics in Qatar, Amrabat has gained a host of suitors including Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

However, Amrabat has made his intention clear that he wants to move to Old Trafford and link-up with Ten Hag again after the pair worked together at Eredivisie side Utrecht.

Poised to now leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium, Amrabat helped Fiorentina to two finals last season but was on the receiving end of a Coppa Italia defeat against Inter and a last-gasp Europa Conference League loss to West Ham.

Man United are desperate to tie up another midfield reinforcement following injuries to £60million summer signing Mason Mount and starlet Kobbie Mainoo, while Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek could be on their way out before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Such is Ten Hag’s need to bolster his midfield, United have also kept tabs on Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
