Nottingham Forest strike deal with Arsenal for Matt Turner but remain interested in Manchester United’s Dean Henderson
Nottingham Forest have agreed a fee with Arsenal for Matt Turner, according to talkSPORT. The fee is believed to be around £7 million, and it will see Turner join Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Steve Cooper’s team is also interested in signing Dean Henderson from Manchester United, and Turner’s arrival will provide competition for the goalkeeper position.
Nottingham Forest is hoping that the increased competition in goal will help the club improve after finishing 16th last season following their promotion to the Premier League. Turner joined Arsenal in the summer of 2022 to provide competition for Aaron Ramsdale, but he had limited opportunities, making only seven appearances in all competitions.
Turner’s likely departure will open the door for Arsenal to bring in another goalkeeper this summer. The Gunners are in discussions with Brentford over a potential move for David Raya, who is valued at £40 million by the Bees. Although a deal has not been finalized yet, Mikel Arteta’s side is reportedly confident of reaching an agreement, which will allow Turner to complete his move to Nottingham Forest.
In other news, talkSPORT has introduced a new match center where football fans can stay updated with the latest fixtures, results, and standings. The match center provides information on Premier League fixtures, the Premier League table, all fixtures and results, and all league tables.
Nottingham Forest have secured a deal with Arsenal to sign goalkeeper Matt Turner for an undisclosed fee, but they remain interested in signing Manchester United shot stopper Dean Henderson on loan.
The 21-year-old Turner is highly regarded by Arsenal and will join the Championship club after making 11 appearances for them in the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.
Turner has made 48 appearances across all competitions since signing his first professional contract with the Gunners in 2017 and will provide competition for current Forest goalkeeper, Brice Samba.
The Reds are believed to have made a successful loan enquiry for Dean Henderson at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old is highly-rated by Manchester United and is currently on the fringes of the first team squad.
However, reports suggest that Henderson is likely to stay at United, where he would be competing with first choice goalkeeper David de Gea for starting opportunities.
Turner and Henderson are both highly sought-after young goalkeepers and Nottingham Forest are doing their best to ensure that the club have the best chances of success this season.
Turner’s signing is expected to be confirmed in the coming days and Forest fans will be hoping that he becomes a hit with the Championship club.
It remains to be seen whether Forest will be successful in their pursuit of Henderson, but they have certainly addressed their goalkeeping needs with the signing of Turner.
