Nottingham Forest launch bid to hijack Premier League rival’s move for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi

Nottingham Forest have opened talks with Chelsea over a permanent deal for Callum Hudson-Odoi, talkSPORT understands.

Fulham also retain an interest in Hudson-Odoi but have so far been unable to agree a few with their west London neighbours.

talkSPORT revealed earlier this summer that Chelsea were willing to cash in on Hudson-Odoi along with a number of other academy graduates to help with FFP restrictions.

Hudson-Odoi has also been linked with a move to Serie A side Lazio but a switch to the City Ground now appears to be his most likely destination.

A move would present the England international with the opportunity to reignite his career after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

Once regarded as one of England’s most promising up-and-coming talents, Hudson-Odoi have been hampered by injuries and a loss of form.

Hudson-Odoi could rekindle his good relationship with Forest boss Steve Cooper after the pair worked together in the England Under-17 set-up, during their World Cup success in 2017.

Meanwhile, Forest are preparing for the departure of Brennan Johnson who is edging closer to a £50million move to Tottenham.

Brentford are also interested in the 22-year-old but Johnson is believed to prefer a move to the north London club.

Spurs players could be inserted into the deal with Davinson Sanchez among the names that could head to the East Midlands ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Johnson has scored 29 times in 108 games for Forest since making his debut in 2019 and has clocked up 19 caps for Wales.
