Nick Bosa becomes highest paid defensive player in NFL history and San Francisco 49ers teammate thinks it’s good for everyone
Nick Bosa has agreed a deal to become the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.
The San Francisco 49ers defensive end has signed a reported five-year, $170million contract that works out to an average $34m per year.

That beats the previous highest average annual salary of $31.7m that Aaron Donald received.
Bosa also can claim the highest signing bonus ($50m) and highest guaranteed money ($122.5m) of any defensive player ever.
His teammate, 49ers centre Jake Brendel, reacted exclusively to talkSPORT about the 25-year-old’s new deal.
He said: “It’s huge. Being able to have the best defensive player on your team is massive. We’re really happy about it.
“We’re all excited for him, really happy for him. Honestly, it’s a ton of money and whenever someone gets paid that much it just resets the market.
“It’s great for him, but it’s also great for every single player out there that comes after him.”
Bosa has been one of the best defensive players in the NFL since he was selected second overall by the 49ers in 2019.
He was NFL defensive rookie of the year in 2019 and in 2022 he was named defensive player of the year.
