Moises Caicedo set to land iconic Chelsea number as new signing’s shirt is leaked online

Chelsea’s latest signing Moises Caicedo looks set to take the no.25 shirt that was last worn by the legendary Gianfranco Zola.

Following a long and drawn out transfer saga, the Ecuadorian finally joined the Blues on Monday from Brighton.

Caicedo has signed for a British record transfer fee that talkSPORT understands is £115million.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were able to fight off interest from rivals Liverpool to secure one of their long-term targets.

Fans had been eagerly anticipating his arrival and will now be looking forward to his first appearance on the pitch for Chelsea.

A swathe of kit number changes were made prior to the start of the season, with their new arrival’s shirt seemingly ‘leaked’ online.

Chelsea’s home kit went on sale on Wednesday and one fan took to X to tweet a picture of Caicedo’s shirt with 25 on the back.

That number hasn’t been worn at the Blues since club legend Zola left Stamford Bridge in 2003.

The Italian, considered to be one of Chelsea’s most talented players ever, won six major honours across 311 appearances in west London.

Caicedo could therefore have some big shoes to fill at the Blues as they eye a return to the top of English football.

The Ecuadorian is the second £100milion+ signing to make the move to west London side in 2023 after Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentine and Caicedo are set to star in a new-look midfield that is also due to welcome the arrival of Romeo Lavia in a £58million deal.

Chelsea’s supposedly new no.25 could make his debut for the club on Sunday afternoon when they travel to West Ham.

Fans will be hoping he can make as much of an impact with the shirt as Zola did during his illustrious spell at the Blues.
