Manchester United told they have made Mason Mount mistake that will harm Casemiro
Manchester United have been told they have made a huge error in signing Mason Mount and not James Maddison.
That is the verdict from ex-Red Devils star Paul Parker, who also insisted that Casemiro would have preferred playing with Maddison.
Mount has had a tricky start to life at UnitedGetty
United splashed out £60million on Mount from Chelsea after he made it clear to the Blues that he did not want to sign a new contract.
But it has not been a happy start to life at Old Trafford for the 24-year-old, who has since been sidelined with injury.
Speaking to bettors, Parker reckons United might have made a mistake in signing Mount.
“Manchester United should have spent the Mason Mount money on James Maddison,” he said.
“I’ve never been too sure on Maddison because of his temperament and he picks up a lot of injuries. His performances so far suggest that Maddison would have been the right player to buy.”
“I personally wasn’t behind buying Mount. He isn’t what Manchester United needs.
“They needed somebody to come in and be like Eriksen. Maddison is like Eriksen when he was at Tottenham.
“A wonderful player to watch. One of the best foreign players to come to the Premier League in recent times. One of the top players to come from Europe.”

But Mount has yet to score or assist for United
Maddison joined Tottenham for £20m less than Mount’s fee and has had an instant impact, scoring one and registering two assists in three appearances for Spurs.
The former Leicester star is seen more as a playmaker than Mount, whose work rate and industry are arguably his best traits.
But the lack of balance has hampered Casemiro, Parker argued, and that the Brazilian would have preferred to play with Maddison.
“Casemiro is missing someone next to him that can pass the ball,” the former full-back added.
“The ball isn’t being passed. It’s being given away cheaply.
“You’ve got someone in Mount who runs around a lot and someone in Fernandes who is erratic and displays his frustration and throws his hands in the air rather than chase back.”
