Erik ten Hag’s side have endured an underwhelming start to the season following their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.
United did in fact beat Wolves 1-0 on the opening weekend but their loss in north London suggests more work needs to be done.
Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund have all been signed for a combined total of around £163million.
Such expenditure could be set to increase this summer though, with Munich star Gravenberch on their radar.
The Dutchman wants to leave the Bundesliga champions for regular first-team football and is also attracting interest from Liverpool.
As part of their ongoing midfield rebuild, the Reds were linked with the 21-year-old earlier in the summer.
talkSPORT understands such interest has been revived by Jurgen Klopp’s side after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.
However, they could be met with stiff competition for a target once against United look to add more quality to their midfield.
Gravenberch has made just three starts for Bayern in the Bundesliga since he signed from Ajax last summer.

He made a combined total of 33 appearances in his debut season but is yet to feature for them this term.
Thomas Tuchel opted to keep him as an unused substitute in their Super Cup Final defeat to RB Leipzig and Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen.
At the age of just 21, Gravenberch certainly has plenty of time to enjoy a stellar career that many are predicting.
United could also be set to welcome Sofyan Amrabat to Old Trafford but talkSPORT understands Liverpool have also held talks with him.
