Man City agree £55million fee with Rennes to sign Jeremy Doku despite West Ham transfer talks

Just two signings have been made at City so far, with Croatian duo Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol being their only acquisitions.
Given how crucial Mahrez was to their success over recent seasons, there is no surprise they have been keen to bring in an ideal replacement.
Doku has been identified as a player who could fill the void on the right wing, with the Belgian telling Rennes he wants the transfer.
And now the two teams have reached an agreement which will see Doku swap Ligue 1 for the Premier League.
The Ligue 1 side also held talks with West Ham over a move for the 21-year-old this summer.
However, it is City that have won the race to secure the youngster’s services.
Doku kicked off his career in the youth ranks at Anderlecht and went on to make 37 senior appearances for them.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were interested in the youngster during his time at the Belgian side.

However, he sealed a move to Rennes in 2020 and has featured 92 times for them since, scoring 12 goals and assisting another ten.
He has already made an impact this season having scored in Rennes’ 5-1 win over FC Metz on the opening weekend of the Ligue 1 campaign.
And he is now primed to head over to England to undergo a medical.
Guardiola’s side have already commenced their title challenge with two wins from two over Burnley and Newcastle.
