Lionel Messi’s pizza order baffles fans as he misses Inter Miami match

Lionel Messi has been sending social media wild, and it’s not because of his brilliance on the pitch.

The Inter Miami star posted a picture on Instagram of his pizza order and it sent fans into meltdown.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner faced ridicule for what people judged to be just slices of tomato on some dough.

One person wrote: “Messi might be the greatest footballer of all time but his pizza choice is up there with the worst.”

Another said: “Messi just posted the worst pizza I’ve ever seen to his story. No scran.”

A third added: “Lionel Messi’s pizza order. The base looks like one of those early supermarket ‘build your own’ cardboard circles.”

The other thing that people spotted about the pizza order was that it came from a restaurant in Miami, when Inter Miami were due to play Atlanta United.

Fans surmised that the 36-year-old would miss the match and he ended up not being named in the squad at all.

He was on international duty with Argentina, but sat out of their 3-0 win over Bolivia on Tuesday.

Messi proved to be a big miss for Inter Miami too as they went on to lose the match against Atlanta 5-2.
