Lionel Messi debuts another new celebration as he inspires Inter Miami to win over Orlando City

Lionel Messi put on another incredible performance, scoring twice in Inter Miami’s 3-1 victory over MLS rivals Orlando City. The 36-year-old football legend fired his team into the Leagues Cup Round of 16 at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida.

Despite a delay of over 90 minutes due to adverse weather conditions, Messi mesmerized his new fans with his skills. He opened the scoring in the seventh minute, volleying home from close range after a pass from Robert Taylor. Orlando City equalized shortly after, but Messi showed his leadership qualities by immediately taking charge after the break.

When Inter Miami was awarded a penalty, it was expected that Messi would take the shot. However, he selflessly allowed teammate Josef Martinez to convert the penalty kick. Martinez, who had not scored in the Leagues Cup prior to this match, found the bottom left corner of the net.

Martinez then turned provider, setting up Messi for his second goal in the 72nd minute. Messi started the counter-attack by finding Taylor down the left flank, who then found an unmarked Martinez in the box. Martinez unselfishly passed the ball to Messi, who fired a right-footed volley into the bottom corner from six yards out.

After his brilliant “hold my beer” celebration in the previous week’s win against Atlanta, Messi debuted another celebration. This time, he performed the “Wakanda Forever” salute, made famous by the Marvel superhero film “Black Panther.” Fans loved his celebration, with many praising him as the “King of the pitch” and the “real Black Panther.”

Messi will now travel with the Inter squad to face FC Dallas in the Round of 16 at the Toyota Stadium, home to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. It’s a fitting place for Messi to showcase his talent.
