Jesse Lingard training with West Ham and could be offered contract following Nottingham Forest release

Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is reportedly back training at West Ham following his Nottingham Forest exit.

The 30-year-old is a free agent after being released by the Reds at the end of last season after just 20 appearances in all competitions.

Lingard was training in America at Inter Miami’s DRV PNK facility last month to fuel rumours he could play alongside Lionel Messi.

He was initially snubbed by ex-Red Devils teammate Wayne Rooney, who is in charge of MLS club DC United.

But according to Sky Sports, the 32-cap England international has returned to Blighty where he has been training with the Hammers.

It has been said that Lingard trained with David Moyes‘ side on Monday to keep his fitness up.

And the news outlet also claimed that a contract back at his former stomping ground hasn’t been ruled out.

Sky have stated there is a ‘small possibility’ that West Ham will offer him a short-term deal.

The 2016 FA Cup winner starred during his loan spell at the London Stadium in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

He chipped in with nine goals and five assists in 16 top-flight games to help the east London outfit to a sixth-placed finish.

His dazzling displays saw him be named as April’s Premier League player of the Month – and a recall to Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad.

He returned to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021, but he featured sparingly under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick and then Ralg Rangnick.

Lingard mustered two goals in 22 matches – with one of his strikes coming against West Ham as he fired in an 89th minute winner.

After he was released by United, Lingard joined Forest on one-year deal, but failed to impress during his short stay at the City Ground.
