James Maddison posts fan footage of him teasing Bournemouth fans who serenaded him with X-rated chant

Tottenham star James Maddison was caught teasing Bournemouth fans who were chanting an X-rated song at him.

Maddison grabbed his first Tottenham goal on Saturday in a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The England international opened the scoring but got an earful from the home fansGetty

And the playmaker was clearly in a jovial mood, despite the home fans trying to get under his skin.

As he went to take a corner for Spurs, fan footage captured one corner of the ground serenading him with a rendition of ‘Southgate’s right, you’re f****** s****’, referring to his tough time breaking into the England squad.

But Maddison saw the funny side and moved the ball off the corner mark, riling the Bournemouth fans momentarily.

He then flashed a cheeky smile towards the home supporters, who all caught on to the joke and laughed along.

One fan can be heard even saying: “He’s a good lad.”

Maddison managed to find the footage and has posted it to his own TikTok page.

And it comes after a successful day for him on the south coast in what has been a fine start to life at Tottenham.

His goal opened the scoring against the Cherries on Saturday afternoon and he was instrumental in nearly everything positive for Spurs.

It followed his brilliant debut performance against Brentford where he got both assists in a 2-2 draw on the opening day of the season.

Maddison signed for Tottenham from Leicester for £40million and is already being hailed as one of the signings of the summer.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Stuart Pearce could not praise the attacking midfielder enough.

He said while commentating on the game for talkSPORT: “How much did he cost, £40m? I think he’s an absolute steal at that, for this team in what they want.

“Just seeing him manipulating the ball, getting on the ball, freeing himself up and as soon as he gets it, he’s looking to play that ball in behind that’s going to hurt the opposition.

“Whether he plays it or not is irrelevant, he looks for it straight away and that’s a great trait.”
