Google celebrates Arsenal Emirates trophy success against Monaco

Google celebrated Arsenal’s victory over Monaco in the Emirates Cup by featuring fireworks on their landing page. The Gunners emerged triumphant with a 5-4 penalty shootout win after the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Youssef Fofana initially gave Monaco the lead, but Eddie Nketiah equalized for Arsenal before halftime. Takumi Minamino’s missed penalty cost Monaco dearly, allowing Arsenal to claim the victory. In recognition of this achievement, Google incorporated fireworks into their search results when users type in “Arsenal.” It’s important to note that the Emirates Cup is a pre-season tournament involving Arsenal and an invited opponent, and this year marked its 12th edition. Unfortunately, the news of Gabriel Jesus’ injury has somewhat overshadowed Arsenal’s success. The Brazilian international will be sidelined for the start of the Premier League season due to a knee injury. Additionally, Declan Rice made his first start for Arsenal at the Emirates, having previously joined from West Ham. Arsenal’s next challenge is the Community Shield match against Manchester City, followed by their Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest on August 12th.
English Premier League club Arsenal have achieved success against AS Monaco in the Emirates Cup, and Google has shared in the celebration.

The two teams met in the Final of the Emirates Cup on Sunday, 25th October 2020, and it was Arsenal who emerged victorious. Goals from Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed victory for the Gunners in a 2-1 win, with Arsenal sealing their first Emirates Cup since 2017.

After the match, Google joined in the celebration, with Google Doodle paying tribute to Arsenal’s victory. The Doodle showed the Arsenal players celebrating their successful match in a cheeky image, which has proven popular on social media.

The Emirates Cup is a summer tournament held annually since 2007 at the Emirates Stadium in London. The tournament features four teams, the tournament winners of the past season being Arsenal, who celebrated their third title success. Prior to winning the Emirates Cup, Arsenal had won the competition in 2009 and 2014.

The Emirates Cup sees the four teams battle it out in a variety of formats, including a group stage, semi-final and final matches. This year saw Arsenal face Monaco in the Final, and with two quick-fire goals from Saka and Aubameyang, Arsenal secured the win.

The victory has been met with warm reception from Google, who have honoured the team in a Doodle. The Doodle features an illustration of the Gunners celebrating their win, making their joy easier to share with all.

Arsenal’s success in the Emirates Cup marks a happy end to what has been a tumultuous season for the club. In the face of adversity, Arsenal have managed to secure their first ever Emirates Cup, and with the help of Google, their success can be celebrated by everyone.
