Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus displayed some Brazilian magic in the MLS All-Star clash, scoring a stunning goal to give his team an early lead. Jesus channeled his inner-Eric Cantona as he expertly chipped the goalkeeper from outside the box. His audacious chip found the back of the net, off the post, in the fifth minute of the game.
Bukayo Saka, the England international, was instrumental in setting up Jesus’ goal. He was sent through down the right channel by Jorginho, who cut inside before finding Jesus. Despite being outside the edge of the box, Jesus calmly dinked the ball towards the far post as MLS All-Star Jose Martinez rushed out to close him down. The strike was reminiscent of Cantona’s famous goal against Sunderland in the 1996/97 season, as it went in off the far left post.
It’s worth noting that Jesus’ celebration with Saka after his stunning strike was a sight to behold. The only thing missing was Jesus lifting up his collar, something he could have done if Arsenal’s bold away strip had one.
Arsenal extended their lead in the 23rd minute through Leandro Trossard, who scored another impressive goal from outside the box. The team dominated the first half, and their performance was rewarded with a comfortable lead.

The Manchester City striker was up against such luminaries as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chicharito, Carlos Vela and Wayne Rooney as he participated in the match. But a moment of magical brilliance from Jesus soon earned him the plaudits.
After receiving the ball atop the box, Jesus used a deft touch to flick the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. From there, he calmly and coolly tucked the ball away into the net, in a skill reminiscent of the Manchester United legend Cantona.
The Brazilian striker’s effort, of course, was not enough to help the MLS All-Stars to victory as they were defeated 3-5 by perennial European champions Atletico Madrid.
The goal was met with huge cheers from the fans in attendance, particularly as it was the only one the MLS were able to put on the board.
It was a tremendous effort from Jesus that will no doubt inspire many young players looking up to him to replicate the skill. As for Jesus himself, it is clear he still has immense talent and he is sure to be admired for his superb execution in the weeks to come.
