And in the win against Finland in the European Championship qualifier that kept their dream of reaching Germany 24 alive, Hojlund let the fans know the players believe in themselves.

Addressing those who had made the trip to Helsinki on Sunday, he bellowed into a megaphone: “I heard you all, and your passion is everything in football.

“We are going to the f***ing Euros! F***ing come on.”

Given his age, his leadership qualities and passion for the game were clearly there to see.

Man United fans were quick to laud their new highly-rated forward, with some even suggesting he could be future captain of the club.

One said: “We have got a big big player on our hands.”

Another added: “Great. What a role model for all the kids in the stands. Our new No.9.”

A third wrote: “Future captain, leader and king.”

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored the crucial goal for Denmark that meant they finished the weekend on 13 points, level with leaders Slovenia and one above rivals Finland.

In the reverse fixture in Copenhagen in March, the young striker scored all three goals in the 3-1 win in what was his first start for Denmark.

Hojlund, who netted 10 goals in 34 appearances for former club Atalanta, has already given United fans a glimpse of what to expect.

He made his debut as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last weekend.

Nearing full-fitness, United manager Erik ten Hag could hand him a start when United take on Brighton at Old Trafford on September 16.
