In an image from the club’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter, Greenwood proudly held up a Getafe shirt.

And he has now taken part in his first training session for the Madrid outfit, with the club sharing a video of the one-cap England international in action.

In a clip showing the 21-year-old making his way onto the pitch, Getafe said: “We love you Mason Greenwood.”

Fans in attendance at the open session could be heard cheering the player, while they also loudly celebrated his goals in a shooting drill in a separate clip.

Greenwood broke his silence regarding his move on Monday, as he delivered a video message to the club’s supporters.

He remarked: “Hi Getafe fans, it’s Mason here.

“I’m so happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.”

His loan deal is understood to include a break clause allowing him to move back to United should the temporary switch not work out.

The United academy graduate has not played competitive football since January 2022 after he was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill.

He denied all of the charges, which were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.

United then carried out their own internal investigation and announced in August that he has no future at Old Trafford.

Greenwood, who will wear the No.12 jersey for Getafe, could make his debut after the international against Osasuna on September 17.

Jose Bordalas’s side currently sit 14th in the LaLiga table following a slow start to the 2023/24 campaign.
