Fiorentina drop Sofyan Amrabat transfer hint as Manchester United rumours intensify
Fiorentina’s squad for their pre-season clash against Newcastle will be missing Sofyan Ambrabat. The Moroccan midfielder has been linked to Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag aims to revamp his midfield. Ambrabat’s impressive performances at the 2022 World Cup with Morocco have attracted Premier League interest.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Amrabat will not be participating in the friendly against Newcastle this weekend. Formal talks between the clubs are expected to commence once Fred and Donny van de Beek are close to leaving Manchester United.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Amrabat is willing to reject a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia in order to join Manchester United. Fiorentina’s opponents this weekend, Al Ahli, have already signed Allan Saint-Maximin and are eager to secure Amrabat’s services in the Saudi Pro League. However, sources close to the player claim that he is solely focused on joining the Red Devils.
Amrabat has been on Erik ten Hag’s radar since his time at Dutch side Utrecht. However, Manchester United will need to sell either Van de Beek, who is wanted by Real Sociedad, or Fred, who is a target for Galatasaray, in order to finance a move for Amrabat.
Having played 107 games for Fiorentina, Amrabat is now in the final year of his contract. Despite joining the Serie A club in 2020, it appears that he is on his way out.
In other news, Rasmus Hojlund is expected to be officially confirmed as a Manchester United player in the near future.

Fiorentina have dropped hints of a possible transfer for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, leading to speculation that the player could be on his way to Manchester United.
The speculation first began when Fiorentina’s sporting director, Pradè, called the 24-year-old a ‘great player’ in an interview with Italian outlet Firenze Viola. Pradè also suggested that the club would be willing to negotiate with interested parties.
Amrabat has been with the Serie A club since 2017 and has featured 36 times this season, scoring five goals. He has also been linked with Arsenal and Roma in recent weeks.
Manchester United have long been admirers of the Dutch international and are believed to be keen to bolster their midfield options. Although reports suggest that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are not expected to make an imminent move for Amrabat, it appears they are closely monitoring the situation.
The Red Devils are not blind to his good form in Serie A, either. His impressive ball control and passing ability have seen him become a regular name on the team sheet. He has also made two appearances in the UEFA Champions League, impressing with both Fiorentina and his former club Club Brugge.
At this stage, it is unclear where Amrabat could end up. However, with his many suitors seemingly stepping up their interest, it looks as if Fiorentina may have decided to cash in on his talents.
With Manchester United keen to make more signings this summer, it seems that the ball is in their court. Fans will be watching closely to see if the Red Devils move for Amrabat in the coming weeks, or if he will end up elsewhere.
