Fans notice awkward moment between Lucy Bronze and Gianni Infantino at World Cup medal ceremony
Lucy Bronze shared an awkward moment with Gianni Infantino during the medals ceremony at the World Cup.
England were collecting their runners-up medals after losing 1-0 to Spain in the World Cup final at Stadium Australia.
Infantino went to shake Bronze’s hand but she turned him awayITV
But there was a clumsy exchange as FIFA chief Infantino handed Bronze her silver medal and tried to shake her hand.
The Barcelona star took the medal and appeared to tap Infantino’s hand rather than shaking it.
And the moment did not go unnoticed by eagle-eyed viewers on social media, who believe it could have been an intentional snub.
One fan said: “She has good taste. Good for her!”
Another wrote: “Well done, Ms Bronze.”
And a third said: “Got a lot of time for Lucy Bronze refusing to shake Infantino’s hand tbf.”
However, another fan had an alternate theory and wrote: “She couldn’t take her eyes off his ridiculous white trainers!”
Infantino made headlines for the wrong reasons prior to the World Cup final with his message to both England and Spain.

In a bizarre remark, he said: “Pick the right battles. Pick the right fights. You have the power to change.
“You have the power to convince us men what we have to do and what we don’t have to do. You do it. Just do it.
“With men, with FIFA, you will find open doors. Just push the doors.
“They are open. And do it also at national level, in every country, at continental level, in every confederation.
“Just keep pushing, keep the momentum, keep dreaming, and let’s really go for a full equality.”
England lost the final to Spain after Olga Carmona scored the only goal of the game in the first-half, dealing heartbreak to the Lionesses at the last hurdle.
