Ex-Newcastle star Luuk de Jong ‘kicked Ibrox door off hinges’ before getting last laugh against Rangers
PSV Eindhoven star Luuk de Jong ‘kicked a door off its hinges’ during a Champions League play-off clash with Rangers.
The Dutchman, once on the books at Newcastle, was part of the side taking on the Scottish giants on Tuesday as they vie for a spot in the group stage.

Despite PSV dominating the first half in Glasgow, it was Rangers who made the breakthrough when a lapse in concentration from Ibrahim Sangare allowed Abdallah Sima to give Michael Beale’s side the lead with a curling effort.
It meant that the hosts went in at the break with a 1-0 lead, something that clearly didn’t go down well with De Jong, with TNT Sports’ touchline reporter, Emma Dodds, revealing he kicked a door off its hinges in the Ibrox tunnel.
This led pundit and ex-Rangers star Kenny Miller to joke that the ex-Newcastle man should foot the bill.
Sangare did make up for his error by equalising on the hour-mark, before Rabbi Matondo restored Rangers’ lead.
However the man who had caused destruction at half-time eventually had the last laugh as he rose highest and headed past Jack Butland with just four minutes of time remaining to end the clash 2-2.
De Jong spent the 2013/14 campaign at St James’ Park but failed to score in 12 appearances.
With the return leg set to take place in Eindhoven next week, it certainly ensures that there’ll be a bit of extra spice going into the decisive contest.
