Evan Ferguson nets hat-trick as Brighton wonderkid joins Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler in Premier League record books

Brighton have a promising young talent in Evan Ferguson, who recently scored a hat-trick against Newcastle in the Premier League. The Republic of Ireland striker’s impressive performance showcased why he is being hailed as the real deal.

Ferguson’s first goal demonstrated his poacher’s instinct as he capitalized on an error from Nick Pope to score from close range. His second goal was a magnificent curling effort from outside the penalty area, while his hat-trick was completed with a left-footed shot that deflected and wrong-footed Pope.

This remarkable achievement marks Ferguson’s first-ever Premier League hat-trick, an extraordinary feat considering his age. At 18 years and 318 days, he joins the ranks of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, and Chris Bart-Williams as the only 18-year-olds to achieve this milestone since 1992.

Interestingly, Ferguson’s hat-trick coincided with hat-tricks from Erling Haaland and Son Heung-min for Manchester City and Tottenham, respectively. This occurrence marks only the second time in Premier League history that three different players have scored hat-tricks on the same day, with the first instance being Fowler, Alan Shearer, and Tony Yeboah on September 23, 1995.

Although Callum Wilson managed to score a late consolation goal for Newcastle, it was Brighton who secured a well-deserved victory, propelling them to fourth place in the table. On the other hand, Newcastle finds themselves in the bottom half of the table with just three points from their first four games.

Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and the latest addition to the Premier League record books, Brighton’s wonderkid Evan Ferguson, have all achieved something special by scoring a hat-trick of goals in the league.

In last night’s match, Ferguson made history as he became the third player born after 2000 to score a hat-trick in the Premier League, joining fellow record-holders Owen and Fowler in an impressive accomplishment. The 19 year-old forward was teed up to break out and take the match by storm, and he did just that.

Ferguson’s hat-trick saw his team Brighton secure a 4-2 victory in last night’s match. The feat was made even more impressive by the fact that the wonderkid achieved the record-breaking Triple in the space of just 29 minutes.

Objectively speaking, it could be argued that last night’s match was the jewel in the crown for youthful talent Ferguson, who has been the subject of wide-spread admiration from his peers and rivals alike since making his Premier League debut at the tender age of 17.

Indeed, the lad from Brighton has already added to his trophy cabinet after receiving the Premier League Young Player of the Month in March of this year.

This latest accolade marks the true arrival of Evan Ferguson on the Premier League stage, as well as a salute from the footballing community.
