Erling Haaland claims men’s PFA prize with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa the big winners

The PFA awards have been revealed and Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa have swept through with the accolades.

City ended up beating Arsenal to the Premier League title and Erling Haaland has landed the prize of PFA Player’s Player of the Year.

The Norway international beats City teammates Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones as well as Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard and former Tottenham striker Harry Kane to the prize.

Haaland had a stunning debut season in England, scoring 36 times in 35 matches, breaking the record for most goals scored in a single campaign.

That included four hat-tricks while his goals catapulted City to a treble-winning campaign.

While Arsenal might have missed out on the title, Bukayo Saka took the accolade for PFA Young Player of the Year.

The 21-year-old was arguably Mikel Arteta’s most important player last season and started every match in the Premier League.

It was the forward’s best season in terms of goal output, scoring 14 times and registering 11 assists as well.

In the Women’s Super League, Aston Villa and England star Rachel Daly took home the PFA Player’s Player of the Year award after an incredible season.

The 31-year-old netted 22 times in the league in 22 appearances – netting nearly half of all of Villa’s goals last season.

Daly had spent most of her professional career in the United States before joining Villa last summer. She won the Golden Boot in her debut campaign, also matching Vivianne Miedema’s record for the most goals scored in a single season.

Taking home the PFA Young Player of the Year award was Chelsea star Lauren James, who joined from Manchester United the year before.

She reunited with her brother Reece at Stamford Bridge before having a debut campaign to remember.

Her mesmeric dribbling and attacking threat helped the Blues win the Women’s Super League for a sixth time and a fourth year in a row.

Both players also went to the World Cup this summer, taking the Lionesses to the final where they came up short against Spain.
