Erik ten Hag confirms Rasmus Hojlund and Sergio Reguilon could make Manchester United debuts against Arsenal

Erik ten Hag has revealed striker Rasmus Hojlund could make his Manchester United debut against Arsenal this weekend.

The £72million signing from Serie A side Atalanta is yet to appear for United due to a back injury.

But Ten Hag revealed the Denmark international is back to full fitness and available for Sunday’s clash at the Emirates.

The Dutchman was quizzed on whether the 20-year-old was fit enough to feature against the Gunners and told reporters: “Yes, so we had a good training week and tomorrow we have the final training.

“He is doing well so he will be available. I think he is ready to start.”

Hojlund’s return will act as a huge boost to Ten Hag whose squad has been hit by multiple injuries in recent weeks.

Left-back Luke Shaw is among the absentees and expected to miss ten weeks of action through injury.

That has prompted Ten Hag to seek emergency cover in the form of Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon. The 26-year-old will spend the season on loan at Old Trafford and could also feature at the Emirates.

The United boss said of the Spaniard: “He is here, he trained. He’s very experienced player, played for big clubs, already played a lot of La Liga and Premier League games, he has a very good background, he can play very intense football, we are happy.

“We had a problem with Luke Shaw injured so we covered very well in an emergency situation.”

United head to the capital this weekend hoping to banish memories of their last trip to north London just two weeks ago, when Tottenham eased to a 2-0 win over the Red Devils.

With six points from their opening three games United can ill-afford to slip too far behind leaders Manchester City, whilst Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool have already made positive starts to the season.
