England matches will be shown on ITV from September 2024 as Channel 4 lose rights

England men’s team matches will be shown on ITV again from September 2024.

Channel 4 won the rights to show coverage of Gareth Southgate’s side outside of major tournaments from 2022, including last year’s Nations League as well as England’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

But after the finals in Germany next summer, England‘s matches will be shown on ITV, who have struck a deal with UEFA to show matches between September 2024 to June 2028.

The deal includes friendlies, qualifiers and Nations League matches.

Niall Sloane, ITV director of sport, said: “We’re delighted to bring the England men’s team back to ITV, which keeps coverage of their progress between major tournaments on free to air television.

“We have an experienced team here who are looking forward to bringing viewers all the action and insight from England’s qualification campaigns in the coming years.”

Coverage will include the Three Lions’ campaign to reach the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Qualification for Euro 2028 will also be shown, however, England – along with Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland – have expressed an interest in hosting the tournament, meaning they would automatically be entered into the finals.

England are in a strong position to reach Euro 2024 as they hold a six-point advantage over Italy and Ukraine, who are second and third place respectively in qualifying Group C.

They were held to a 1-1 draw against Ukraine in their most recent qualifier but managed to beat Scotland 3-1 in a friendly last week.
