Arsenal star Declan Rice has revealed how Mikel Arteta made him feel like Will from The Inbetweeners on his first day at the club.

The former West Ham skipper joined the Gunners in a £105million deal – becoming the most expensive players in history.

Rice has since revealed how Arteta made him settle in at his new club right from the off.

The Arsenal boss opted for a similar move to that of the famed Channel 4 TV show The Inbetweeners, where four teenage boys progress through high school.

In case you have never seen it, the first episode is Will’s first day at his new school, and is forced to wear a name badge with his name, and hope it makes people be friendly towards him.

Rice has since revealed how Arteta opted for a similar method on his arrival, which went down a storm with the club’s younger stars.

“My first time I was there, on the Sunday, the lads weren’t in and I came out of the physio room and Arteta has little things he does,” Rice said.

“He put a sticker on me saying ‘hello, I’m the new person!’. He walked in and he just put it on my chest.

“I’ve got to wear as the gaffer has put it on me! The 18s and 21s are up in the canteen and I’m like Will off The Inbetweeners, I’m the new boy, I’m walking through like that!”

Rice has endured a bright start to life at his new club, making five appearances, and has managed one goal already.

The 24-year-old netted in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Man United last weekend, and is already making a name for himself in north London.
