Cristiano Ronaldo mercilessly trolls former teammate Sergio Ramos on Instagram over follower count

Cristiano Ronaldo has trolled Sergio Ramos on Instagram after he celebrated 60 million followers.

The Al Nassr star is the most-followed person on the social media site after reaching 600 million followers earlier this month.

That kept him above other massive online personalities such as Dwayne Johnson, Selena Gomez and rival Lionel Messi, who is second.

It also means he has 10 times more followers than his old Real Madrid pal Ramos, who is currently a free agent.

The Spaniard, though, celebrated his special milestone on Instagram this week.

He uploaded a picture of himself signing football boots with the caption: “We started in 2014 and – although it seems impossible – we are now 60 million strong.

“To celebrate this and return some of the love you all give me, I’ve got a great competition for you: a giveaway of 20 pairs of signed Mizuno boots.”

But among the comments congratulating the defender was his former teammate Ronaldo.

He replied with a laughing face emoji: “You need another zero to catch me!”

The comment caused quite the reaction, attracting over 100,000 likes.

While Ronaldo might have delivered a cheeky dig, the two could be reunited soon.

Ramos is currently looking for a new club and a move to Saudi Arabia has been touted.

Al Nassr could snap up the 37-year-old, who was released by Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expired earlier this summer.

Ronaldo and Ramos played together for nine years at Real Madrid, winning four Champions League titles together.

Whether Al Nassr land the defender remains to be seen, though a move would come as no surprise amid a push from the Saudi Pro League to sign the biggest names in the sport.

While Ronaldo moved in December, several others have made the jump to the gulf state since.

Neymar, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez have all signed for Saudi clubs while more big-money transfers are planned.
