Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest will be Chelsea’s third consecutive home match in all competitions, and the Blues will be looking to make it three wins from three in that time.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side earned their first Premier League win of the season last Friday night with a 3-0 win over Luton, inspired by a Raheem Sterling brace and a first goal for the club for new striker Nicolas Jackson, set up by Sterling.

The Blues then booked their place in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday night as they came from behind to knockout League Two side Wimbledon, with Noni Madueke and Enzo Fernandez finding the net.

The West London side head into the new weekend in 10th place in the Premier League table, having accrued four points from their three matches so far, but back to back wins mean they should be able to start looking up the table once again.

Nottingham Forest have lost three out of the four matches they’ve played this season, including both of their matches away from the City Ground, though they have come up against tough opponents in each of those.

Steve Cooper’s side had the unenviable task of travelling to last season’s runners up Arsenal to kick off the season, losing 2-1, before falling 3-2 away against Manchester United last weekend despite being 2-0 up inside five minutes.

Those defeats sandwiched a 2-1 home victory against newly promoted Sheffield United, with those three points leaving the East Midlands side 14th in the league heading into the weekend.

Forest exited the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night with a 1-0 home defeat to Burnley, though that means the club can focus fully on the league for the rest of the calendar year.

Cooper’s side have impressed in both of their league defeats so far this season, and will back themselves to grab something on Saturday afternoon against a Chelsea side still far from their best.

Both matches between these two sides last season ended in a draw, offering more hope to Forest, though Chelsea had won the previous seven matches between the two and are unbeaten against the Nottinghamshire side since 1997.
