Chelsea fans will love Moises Caicedo’s wholesome conversation with his mum about ‘dream’ transfer

Moises Caicedo pulled on the heartstrings of Chelsea fans following the announcement of his arrival.

The Ecuadorian is now the third most expensive player ever after snubbing Liverpool to sign for the Blues from Brighton for £115million.

But it’s not just the midfielder’s price tag that has caught fans’ attention.

Chelsea uploaded photos comparing an old photo of the star in a Chelsea shirt with his mum back in their homeland and one of the pair recreating the same snap on his arrival at Cobham.

Giving fans an insight into the remake, the Blues posted a clip of the mother and son discussing his big money move, along with the caption ‘Impossible not to smile’.

“Today is the day, my son,” Caicedo’s mum says to him as he hugs her.

“Mum do you remember when that photo was taken?” he asks.

“Yes, son, I remember. It was in Cayambe in 2020,” she replies.

“A lot of time has passed since then, but it’s finally happened and now our dream has finally come true,” the new Chelsea star says.

His mum ends the video by replying: “Everyone’s dream. The family’s dream.

“A huge congratulations son. I really congratulate you.”

As if Caicedo’s mum being alongside him every step of the way of his journey wasn’t wholesome enough, reports from Ecuador state the star’s move has benefited his country.

Caicedo’s former club Independiente del Valle will make $29m (£22.8m) from his move to Chelsea.

The club plan to use the money to build a High Performance Centre, which will named after Caicedo, and invest in Ecuadorian football.

Blues fans will be hoping to see their new record signing in their London derby against West Ham on Sunday.

Chelsea currently look set to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, too, with the youngster expected to follow in Caicedo’s footsteps and opt for the Blues over Liverpool.
