Chelsea agree £25million deal for Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for a deal worth up to £25m. The Blues are in search of a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga. Sanchez, who joined Brighton at the age of 15, has emerged as a potential option for Mauricio Pochettino’s team. The 25-year-old has been given permission to undergo a medical with Chelsea ahead of a summer transfer. If the move goes through, Sanchez will become Chelsea’s fifth signing of the summer, joining Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo, and Diego Moreira. This transfer marks another change in Chelsea’s goalkeeping options following Edouard Mendy’s departure to Al Ahli. Kepa, who was the club’s first-choice goalkeeper for much of last season, may now have to battle for a spot in the starting XI. Marcus Bettinelli and Gabriel Slonina are also part of the Chelsea squad, with the latter potentially going out on loan. Sanchez arrives at Chelsea with three seasons of competitive football at Brighton under his belt, having made 90 appearances and keeping 29 clean sheets. Pochettino now has an additional goalkeeping option for the upcoming season, his first at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s next Premier League match is against Liverpool, which promises to be a significant clash for both teams at the start of the new season. The Blues appear ready to compete, as evidenced by their unbeaten pre-season schedule, including a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund. Chelsea Football Club have completed an agreement to sign goalkeeper Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported fee of £25million.

The Spanish stopper has long been identified as the man to bring stability and confidence to Chelsea’s defence and the Blues have finally got their man.

Sanchez has been in excellent form this season, keeping eleven clean sheets in the Premier League, and establishing himself as one of the league’s top young goalkeepers.

The 25-year-old has already represented the Spanish national team, and has been tipped to become the next great Spanish goalkeeper with his excellent ability, composure and agility.

The Blues are clearly taking their goalkeeping situation very seriously, and they want the best quality players possible, as they look to establish themselves back amongst the European elite.

Sanchez will also join compatriots Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy at the club, as the Chelsea faithful hope that this trio of Spanish shot-stoppers can help restore the team to former glories.

With the news that Robert Sanchez’s move to Chelsea is now complete, fans of the club must be looking forward to a much-needed boost to the goalkeeping ranks ahead of next season.

Chelsea certainly seem to have made the right decision here, as they should have an extremely solid defence with the addition of Sanchez between the sticks.
