Burnley vs Tottenham: What has been said?

Postecoglou has confirmed Richarlison’s injury but was pleased to see the Brazilian score during the Carabao Cup loss to Fulham. Speaking on Tuesday, he said: “I think he got a bit of a knock. “I guess because everyone’s been talking about it it’s great for him to score a goal but I think he’s played better for us in the other games. “I get why other people look at that and I understand that but for me it’s about contributing to our football, how we play. “I thought we gave away the ball a bit too much tonight, not just him but a few players in that boat. “It’s an important part of our game and that’s the stuff I want Richy to improve on. I think the goals will come. “Our strikers, our attacking players will get opportunities to score. Our all-round games is much more important at this stage.” Richarlison scored his first goal of the season in midweekGetty

Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma has made more progressive carries (44) and carried the ball further (876 metres) than any other midfield player in the Premier League so far this season. Only Ashley Westwood (20) has assisted more Premier League goals for Burnley than Jóhann Gudmundsson (19). However, just three of these have come in his last four seasons in the competition, with his assist for Lyle Foster against Aston Villa last time out his first since September 2021. As Celtic manager, Spurs’ Ange Postecoglou won his last nine league matches against promoted sides by an aggregate score of 31-7. Spurs themselves lost their last such match (2-3 v Bournemouth in April), but haven’t lost consecutive games against promoted teams since April 2012 (v Norwich and QPR). Burnley have fielded the two youngest average starting XIs in their two Premier League games so far this season (23y 206d v Man City, 23y 340d v Aston Villa), giving them an overall average of 23y 273d. In their last Premier League campaign in 2021-22, the Clarets had the second-oldest starting lineups on average (28y 343d). Spurs are looking to win three consecutive league games for the first time since May/August 2022 (four). Tottenham have kept a clean sheet in their last two Premier League games (2-0 wins v Man Utd and Bournemouth), having kept just one in their previous 14. They last recorded three consecutive shutouts in May 2022, which included a 1-0 win over Burnley. Due to their game at Luton being postponed, this is Burnley’s third straight home game in the Premier League this season. They’re the fourth side to start a Premier League campaign with three consecutive home games, after Everton, Newcastle United and Wimbledon all did so in 1997-98. Having lost both of their first two Premier League games of this season, Burnley could lose their opening three matches of a top-flight campaign for only a fourth time, after 1920-21, 1927-28 (first 5), and 2020-21. Tottenham have won 10 of their 16 Premier League games against Burnley (D3 L3). However, all three such defeats against them have come in away games (May 2010, February 2019, February 2022). Burnley won their last Premier League home game against Tottenham 1-0 in February 2022. They’ve not won consecutively at Turf Moor against them in the league since May 2010, when there was a 32-year gap between victories.
