Bukayo Saka presented with England men’s Player of the Year award by James Maddison in wholesome moment

Bukayo Saka has been named England men’s Player of the Year for a second year in a row.

The Arsenal winger has been voted as the standout star by Three Lions fans, ahead of Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, with the pair coming in second and third respectively.

Saka was given the award on his 22nd birthday and England teammate James Maddison gave him the gift-wrapped award in what was a wholesome moment.

After discovering what was inside the present, Saka said: “Thank you very much, man.

“I’m really grateful, thank you for everyone who made this happen and it’s a nice birthday gift as well so I’m happy.”

Over the last year, Saka has earned ten caps for his country, scoring on seven occasions during that time.

He was also named Player of the Match in the win over Iran in England’s 2022 World Cup opener, scoring twice in that game.

He also netted against Senegal in the last-16 and started four out of five of the games in Qatar in England’s run to the quarter-finals.

Saka picked up two Player of the Match awards from the win over Ukraine at Wembley and North Macedonia at Old Trafford, too, scoring a hat-trick for the first time in Manchester.

The Three Lions are currently preparing for the international games against Ukraine and Scotland, which you can listen to live on talkSPORT.

Saka will be looking to add to his 28 senior caps in those games and has told talkSPORT all about the aims he and his fellow teammates are setting as they prepare for Euro 2024.

The Gunners star was recently named PFA Young Player of the Season, too. He was also included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year after Arsenal’s second place finish in the Premier League last term.
