Benjamin Pavard and Jean-Clair Todibo on Manchester United wish list as Harry Maguire heads for exit

Manchester United have reportedly added Benjamin Pavard and Jean-Clair Todibo to their shortlist for this summer’s transfer window. According to talkSPORT, West Ham United have had a £30 million bid accepted for Harry Maguire, who is expected to join David Moyes’ team. In response, United boss Erik ten Hag is wasting no time in finding a replacement and has already identified his top targets.

One of the main targets is Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard, who has won four Bundesliga titles with the club. Pavard was also part of the French squad that won the World Cup in 2018, alongside United star Raphael Varane. The other top target is Nice ace Jean-Clair Todibo, who previously won LaLiga during his time with Barcelona.

However, Todibo also has an offer from Saudi Arabia, which could complicate any attempt to sign him away from France. Todibo joined Barcelona as a teenager but struggled to break into their side, leading to loan spells at Schalke and Benfica. He eventually joined Nice permanently in 2021 and has since become a highly sought-after player in Ligue 1.

Pavard’s versatility is appealing to Ten Hag, as he can play both as a centre-back and a right-back. He has also been utilized as a right wing-back and in midfield, showcasing his adaptability. Despite signing for Bayern Munich in 2019, Pavard has informed the club that he wants to leave as he enters the final year of his contract.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also looking to offload several players. In addition to Maguire’s potential move to West Ham, Fred and Scott McTominay have been linked with departures. Eric Bailly is another player on the way out, with a potential switch to Al Nassr, while Donny van de Beek is closing in on a move to Real Sociedad.

In other news, talkSPORT has introduced a new match center where fans can stay updated with all the latest Manchester United fixtures, results, and live Premier League standings. The match center provides easy access to information such as Man United’s fixtures and results for the 2023/24 season, as well as the Premier League fixtures and results and the live Premier League table.
Manchester United is reportedly looking to add two new central defenders to their ranks as Harry Maguire’s future at the club remains uncertain. French World Cup winning defender Benjamin Pavard and Barcelona’s talented youngster Jean-Clair Todibo have been placed at the top of the club’s wish list.

As the English transfer window deadline looms nearer, Manchester United are scrambling to find a suitable replacement for Maguire in case their star defender heads for the exit. Sources indicate that Pavard is the priority target as the Red Devils seek a ready replacement for Maguire.

The former Stuttgart man won the World Cup with France in 2018 and has since established himself as one of the finest defenders in European football. To add to his impressive CV, Pavard was also part of the Bayern Munich team that won both the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal in 2019-2020. The 26-year-old has a solid track record playing both from the right and center of defense making him a quality option for United.

The club has also been linked with Barcelona’s product Jean-Clair Todibo. The 20-year-old came through the academy at Toulouse before joining Barcelona in 2019. The centre back was on loan at Schalke last season and has been praised for his composure, technical ability, and skill.

With both Pavard and Todibo on United’s wish list, it is uncertain what the future holds for Harry Maguire, who is tipped to leave the club this summer. However, with the English transfer window closing soon, the club has little time to make a decision on its defensive targets.

Time will tell if Man United opts for one of the two defenders and if Harry Maguire’s spell as the club’s captain will come to an end.
