Barcelona and Nike agree on player to inherit Lionel Messi’s No.10 shirt

Barcelona are in agreement with Nike over who should take Lionel Messi’s famed No.10 shirt, according to reports.

The jersey had been occupied by Ansu Fati, who left the Catalan giants to join Brighton on-loan in the summer.

Messi looked set to re-inherit his famous shirt, having been linked with a move back to the Camp Nou.

The 36-year-old eventually joined David Beckham’s Inter Miami in the MLS, meaning the number is now vacant.

According to El Nacional, Nike pressurised Barca into selling Fati, originally suggesting the No.10 shirt would go to wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

However, the report adds Victor Roque is now in line to take up the shirt, with the manufacturer and the club already in agreement.

Roque will join Barcelona in January from Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense.

The 18-year-old, who made his professional debut as a 16-year-old for Cruzeiro, joins the Catalan giants for an initial €30million [£25.7m].

He previously led the attack for Brazil in the South American U20 tournament in February.

The striker, did, in fact, end the tournament as top scorer with six goals.
