However, he spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Crystal Palace and now seems to be out of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Lokonga is set to complete a Premier League loan move to newly-promoted Luton for the rest of the season.
Ahead of his switch to the Hatters, the midfielder was spotted at Kenilworth Road for their clash against West Ham, live on talkSPORT.
He made just nine appearances for Palace during his short stint at Selhurst Park.
Lokonga was the subject of interest from Brighton before they went on to sign Carlos Baleba.
Burnley were also linked with a move, one that would have seen him reunite with fellow Belgian Vincent Kompany.
The duo both spent time together at Anderlecht before Lokonga sealed his switch to Arsenal in 2021.
He has made a total of 39 appearances for the Gunners, with Luton now beckoning for the current campaign.
The Hatters are yet to win in the Premier League this season after defeats to Brighton and Chelsea.
However, Lokonga could prove to be the man who helps to cement their status in the top-flight for next season.
