Al Hilal make eye-watering bid for Manchester United target Victor Osimhen after Kylian Mbappe rejection
Al Hilal, the Saudi Pro League side, has reportedly made a bid of £120.3 million for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. This comes after their failed attempt to pursue Kylian Mbappe. In addition to the hefty transfer fee, Al Hilal has offered Osimhen a staggering £1 million per week in wages.
It is worth noting that Al Hilal had previously made a bid of €300 million (£259 million) for Mbappe, which was accepted by Paris St-Germain. However, Mbappe turned down the move. As a result, Al Hilal has shifted their focus to securing the services of Osimhen.
Osimhen, who has been a long-term target for Manchester United and Chelsea, is in high demand. However, it seems that Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, prefers Atalanta’s Rasmus Hoijland, who is expected to join the club in a £72 million deal.
Apart from Al Hilal, Osimhen has also been linked with other top clubs such as PSG and Bayern Munich. His contract extension with Napoli is yet to be finalized, as the club has failed to meet his demands. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated that they are willing to consider a lucrative offer if Osimhen refuses to sign a new contract.
Osimhen had an impressive season, finishing as the top scorer in Italy with 26 goals in 32 games. He played a crucial role in leading Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years.
On Monday evening, Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal made a significant, eye-watering offer for Nigeria international and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, believed to be around 50 million euros. This comes after Osimhen had been strongly linked to Manchester United in recent weeks, who had reportedly made an offer to Napoli months ago.
Al Hilal have been in the market for an attacker, having recently rejected a bid for Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain. The massive investment in Osimhen is a clear sign that the club are aiming to compete at the highest of levels on both an international and domestic stage.
Osimhen made an impressive breakthrough in his native country with the U-20 national team before making a move to Wolfsburga in Germany. After a difficult debut season in Europe, he moved to the prime of his career with French side Lille before Napoli secured a near-50 million euro move for him last summer.
Though his goal-scoring record in Napoli has not been particularly remarkable, his performances this season have ensured that he is still one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
The Nigerian attacker has often revealed his admiration for Premier League side Manchester United, whom he could now be partnering with if the Al Hilal bid is accepted. Elsewhere, Italian side Roma are also reportedly planning to lodge a bid for Osimhen, who could yet choose to stay at Napoli altogether.
The young international has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists thus far. With the transfer window coming to a close in the summer, Osimhen’s future may very well be decided soon.
